ඒ, n. The twelfth letter of the alphabet. Its sound is that of the preceding vowel lengthened: as a in Fade, but somewhat broader, the initial sound of it being maintained throughout, without changing into i as the English sound does: consequently in English words it would seem somewhat inelegant. Its non-initial form is the same as the preceding, but lengthened by the addition of /?/ or ි to the consonant, as කේ ké (cay), මේ mé (may).

ඒ, adj. pron. that or those.

ඒ ගාවා, a. or ad. next to that, ඊළඟ.

ඒ තාක්කල්, ad. until then, ඒවනතුරු.

ඒ නිසා, conj. on that account, therefore.

ඒ වංගියේ, n. or ad. (වංගිය turn, bend), at that time, then, එකල, ඒ ප්‍රස්තාවේ.

ඒ සා, a. such as that, such-like, එවැනි, එයාකාර.

ඒක, pron. that one, it.

ඒක ගර්‍භ, a. uterine (brother &c.), එක්කුසේ.

ඒක ඝන, a. of uniform thickness or solidity, one solid (piece).

ඒක චක්ෂු, a. one-eyed, එක ඇහැක් ඇති.

ඒක චක්‍රය, n. single wheel, one-wheeled car; ap. of the sun, සූර්‍ය්‍ය රථය.
