අග්නි නිර්‍වාපණ, a. fire-extinguishing ගිනි නිවන.

අග්නි නිර්‍වාපණ යන්ත්‍රය, n. fire-engine, ගිනි නිවන යන්ත්‍රය.

ඒකායනය, n. (අයනය), the one road, viz. to නිර්‍වාණය.

ක්ලේශය, n. any passion, desire or evil affection, අභිලාෂය, කෙලෙස්; sorrow, affliction, care, දුක. B. teaches that ක්ලේශය or desire is the root of all sin and sorrow, and renders transmigration and continued existence inevitable until all ක්ලේශ are subdued and exterminated; when that is accomplished නිර්‍වාණ or non-existence is attained. The non-attainment of it,—that is, continued conscious existence,—is regarded as a calamity, and it is the supreme object of B. and its laws and observances to effect the extermination of ක්ලේශ.

ගාමි, suf. signifying, going to, frequenting, as නිර්‍වාණගාමි going to Nirvāna.

නව·ලෝකෝත්තරධර්‍ම, n. pl. (ලෝක උත්තර), the nine world-eminent doctrines, viz. those relating to the four stages or courses of purification with their four fruitions and Nirvána. The four courses &c. are: සෝවාන් මාර්‍ගය and ඵලය, සකෘදාගාමි මාර්‍ගය and ඵලය, අනාගාමි මාර්‍ගය and ඵලය, අර්‍හත් මාර්‍ගය and ඵලය and නිර්‍වාණය. See each term.

නි·රෝධ·මාර්‍ගය, n. the way or means of final emancipation, නිර්‍වාණමාර්‍ගය.

නි·රෝධය, n. final emancipation, annihilation, නිර්‍වාණය, නැතිවීම.

නිර්‍වපනය, නිර්‍වාපය, n. extinguishing, quenching, cooling, නිවීම.

නිර්‍වාණ, a. (නිර් out, වණ් to sound or go), subduing, යටපත්කරන, extinguishing, නිවන; pert. to Nirvāna, නිවන්.

නිර්‍වාණය, n. the state so called, the cessation of all desire and of re-existence, extinction, annihilation, the goal of Buddhism.

නිර්‍වාපනයකරනවා, v. t. to extinguish, නිවනවා; ධූලි... to lay the dust.

නිවන, n. E. of නිර්‍වාණය.
