අකුරකින් විදිනවා, v. to shoot with a small stone for augury. This is done by taking stones between the two fore-fingers and projecting them against the bark and leaves of trees and then predicting coming events according to the marks made by the stones.

අගස්ති, අගස්ත්‍ය, n. a rishi so named, who, according to mythology, was born in a water jar, once swallowed the ocean, but voided it again, and is the regent of the star Canopus.

අන්තඃ කල්පය, n. a certain number of years in Buddhism: according to B. man's age increases by imperceptible degrees from ten years to an Asankhya (අසංඛ්‍ය) and then decreases in the same way to ten years: the period required for this is an Antahkalpa. See අසංඛ්‍ය.

අනු ගුණ, a. according to the quality: congenial, kindred, suitable, හුරු, සමවූ, සුදුසු.

අනු මිති, අනු මිත්‍යාකාර, a. (අනු according, මිති measuring, ආකාර), inferential, deductive, illative. E. S.

අනු සුත්‍ර, a. according to rule, regular, නියමයට එකඟවු.

අනුත්සුත්‍ර, a. (අන් priv., උතසුත්‍ර irregular), not irregular, according to rule, orderly, regular, අනුසුත්‍ර, නියමයට එකඟ.

අව ච්ඡායාව, අව ච්ඡාව, n. (අව off, ඡායා shadow), the portion of one's shadow rejected according to the time of the year in reckoning the hour by the sun.

ආකාරයට, ආකාරයෙන්, ad. affix, expressing manner: as, according to: හොඳ ආකාරයට, in a good manner, well; ඔහු කියන ආකාරයට, as be says.
