ඒ, n. The twelfth letter of the alphabet. Its sound is that of the preceding vowel lengthened: as a in Fade, but somewhat broader, the initial sound of it being maintained throughout, without changing into i as the English sound does: consequently in English words it would seem somewhat inelegant. Its non-initial form is the same as the preceding, but lengthened by the addition of /?/ or ි to the consonant, as කේ ké (cay), මේ mé (may).

ඕ, n. The fifteenth letter of the alphabet. It is a long o which retains its initial sound to the end, and does not, like the English long o, terminate in oo: consequently it is a broad and, to English ears, a bightly vulgar sound.

කළු·හබරල, a sp. of the wake-robin, a broad-leaved bulbous plant.

පතළ, a. diffused, spread abroad, public, ප්‍රසිද්ධ.

පරි·ණහ, d. broad, Wide, පළල්, විශාල.

පරි·ණහ·පත්‍ර, a. bot. broad-leaved, latifoliate. E. S.

පස·ඟ·තුරු, n. pl. five kinds of musical instruments, viz. අතත, broad drum; විතත, long drum; long and broad drum; විතතාතය, cymbal; සුෂිර, flute or pipe.

පළල්, a. wide, broad.

පළල්කරනවා, v. t. to make broad, widen.

ප්‍ර·වාසනය, n. (ප්‍ර forth, away, වාස dwelling), dwelling abroad, sojourning, පොරොත්තුව සිටීම; exile, පිටවහල්ව සිටීම.

ප්‍ර·වාසයකරනවා, v. to sojourn abroad, පිටරටක වසනවා.

ප්‍රකීර්‍ය්‍ය, a. that should be spread abroad or made known, පතළකළයුතු.

ප්‍රෝෂිත, a. (ප්‍ර forth, උෂිත dwelling), dwelling abroad, sojourning, අන්රටක වාසයකරන, පො රොත්තුව සිටින.

ප්‍රෝෂිතයා, n. colonist or one dwelling abroad.
