අප භ්‍රංශ, a. (අප off, භ්‍රංශ falling), ungrammatical. E. S.

අප භ්‍රංශ වාක්‍යය, n. ungrammatical sentence or word, solecism, රීතියට එකඟනැති කීමක්.

අප භ්‍රංශය n. ungrammatical language, patois, පහත් භාෂා ක්‍රමයක්.

අප ශබ්දය, අප සද, n. improper or vulgar word, ungrammmatical form. E. S.

ඇ, n. The third vowel of the alphabet, though in some grammars and vocabularies this and the next are placed last of all. Its sound is a modification of අ, and like the sound of a in fat, bat, mat. Its non-initial form is (ැ) following the consonant it vocalizes, as කැබ්, cab.

කාත්‍යායන, n. ap. or ep. of a certain law-giver, grammarian and poet, also of a tribe and an order of sages.

කේවල වෛයාකරණයා, n. a mere grammarian (versed in nothing else).

ත·ශබ්දය, ත·සද, n. the vocable ත: grammatical term for the second person singular or plural as derived from තෝ.

ප්‍රති·පෘච්ඡාව, n. (ප්‍රති severally, පෘච්ඡා asking), interrogation, questioning, inquiry, investigation, විචාරීම, විභාගය; the interrogative or third part of native grammar.

පාණිනි, n. name of the celebrated Sanscrit grammarian, Pānini.

පාලිය, n. row, range, line, පේළිය; lobe of the ear, කන්පෙත්ත; edge of a tool, මුවාත; mark, ලකුණ; spot, ලපය; the Pali language, (so called because of its perfect grammatical arrangement), the ancient language of south Bihar, also called මාගධ භාෂාව.
