අ සංඛ්‍යය, n. lit. the innumerable but used of a definite number, about a vigintillion or the twentieth power of a million.

අටලු වාසල, n. pavilion on the roof.

අන්තරට්ටාලය, n. (අන්තර අට්ටාලය) upper room or pavilion, ඇතුල් උඩු මහල.

අර්‍බබුදය, n. tumour, cancer, ගඩුව, පිළිකාව; one hundred nonillions or eighth power of a krore or කෝටිය.

අවතාරය, n. apparition, ghost, fantasm, spectre, sprite, manes, ප්‍රේතයා; in ancient usage: descent or incarnation of a god, as of Vishnu in the form of a fish, tortoise, boar, man-lion (නෘසිංහ), dwarf, the two Rāmas, Krishna, Buddha, Kalki &c.; also for අවතරණය.

අශ‍්ව මදයා, n. stallion.

ඇත් රිපු, n. enemy of elephants, viz. the lion, සිහංයා.

ඇහිඟුල්, n. vermilion, සාදිලිංගම්.

ඉඟුල්, n. vermillion, red-lead, සාදිලිංගම්.

ඌර්‍ඬව ගත සිංහයා, n. lion-rampant. E. S.

කණ්ඨි රවයා, n. the roarer, viz. lion, සිංහයා; dove, ‍කොබෙයියා; elephant in rut, මන්ත හස්තියා.

කපි ශීෂීක, n. vermillion, ඉඟූල්.

කල්පය, n. a period said to be equal to a day of Brahma which equals 4,320,000,000 solar years: it is the Sakwala or world period, which is divided into four parts, viz. its formation, its duration, its destruction and its non-entity until the commencement of its reformation. It is difficult, however, to reconcile the various statements one with another, since during the Kalpa the age of man is said to gradually increase from ten years to an asankhya and again to diminish gradually to ten years: an asankhya being about the twentieth power of a million.
