අ පක්ෂ වාදි, a. (වාදි speaking, maintaining), impartial; diboyal, opposed, විරුඬ.

අග්නි කාරිකාව, අග්නි කාර්‍ය්‍යය, n. (කාරිකාව, &c., making), the maintaining of a saerificial fire; that which does it, viz, fuel, sp. ghee, ගිතෙල්.

අග්නි රක්ෂණය, n. maintaining (sacred) fire.

ඒ, n. The twelfth letter of the alphabet. Its sound is that of the preceding vowel lengthened: as a in Fade, but somewhat broader, the initial sound of it being maintained throughout, without changing into i as the English sound does: consequently in English words it would seem somewhat inelegant. Its non-initial form is the same as the preceding, but lengthened by the addition of /?/ or ි to the consonant, as කේ ké (cay), මේ mé (may).

නඩත්තුකරනවා, නඩමාඩකරනවා, v. t. to maintain (with a living), support, රක්‍ෂාකරනවා.

පවත්වනවා, v. t. to maintain, keep, observe (as a command or custom); pret. පැවැත්තුවා; v. n. පැවැත්වීම.

භටයා, n. (භට to hold, maintain), fighter, ගහ ගන්නා warrior, soldier, හේවායා.

භෘත, a. (භෘ to nourish, support), hired, කුලී කාර; maintained, නඩත්තුකරනලද; endowed with, possessed of යුක්ත.

භෘත්‍යයා, n. one who has to he maintained, viz. servant: see භෘතකයා.

මෞනය, n. (fr. මුනි sage, who maintains silence), silence, නිශ්ශබ්දකම, taciturnity, අල්පවාදිකම.

වාර්‍භටයා, n. (වාර් water, භටයා maintainer warrior), alligator, crocodile, කිඹුලා.

වි·චිකිත්සා·වාදි, a. maintaining or contending for doubts, sceptical, agnostic, ශංකාවාදි, ශංකාකරන.

සම්භාරය, n. (සං emp., භෘ to nourish, support), multitude, සමූහය, large quantity, mass, රාශිය; supporting, maintaining, නඩත්තුකිරි ම; see භාරය.
