ඕම්, n. the mystic name of the H. Trinity, supposed to be compounded of, අ, උ, ම්, signifying respectively Vishnu, Siva and Brahma.

ප්‍රත්‍යේකාකාරයෙන්, ad. one by one, singly, individually, respectively, එක එක බැගින්.

රාහු, n. The ascending node considered as a demon. In H. myth. his mother was සිංහිකා; he was a dragon-tailed demon whom Vishnu decapitated in his wars with the demons during his incaruation as රාමචන්‍ද්‍ර, but as Ràhu was immortal his head and tail retained their separate existence and in the stellar sphere became the cause of eclipses, especially the head by attempting from time to time to swallow the sun and moon. The B. account differs considerably from the above, but agrees that Ràhu causes the eclipses as above said. Ràhu's head went to the North and his tail, කේතු, to the South and became respectively the ascending and descending nodes. See Hardy's Manual of Buddhism.

විනය·පිටකය, n. name of one of the B. sacred books, the second of the Three Pitakas relating entirely to the priests. It is divided into five main parts called respectively පාරාජිකා, ප‍චිති, සුළුවග, මහවග and පරිවාර, this last being a summary of the chief doctrines of the other four.

වෙන·වෙන, a. (වෙන repeated), respectively other, differen: වෙන·වෙනම, each separately.

සංගායනාව, සංගීතිය, n. singing together, chorus, concert, entertainment of singing and music; public recitation; sp. applied to three convocations held after Buddha's death to settle the B. canon, at which there were present respectively 500, 700 and 1000 priests.

සනාතනී, n. fem. ap. of දුර්‍ගා, ලක්‍ෂමි and සරස්වති, wives respectively of the above three.

සම්ප්‍ර·සාරණය, n., (සං together, ප්‍රසාරණ opening, spreading), expanding the letters ඉ, උ, සෘ, සෲ into their respective semivowels ය, ව, ර, ල; mutual substitution of the letters ඉ, උ, සෘ, සෲ and their respective semivowels ය, ව, ර, ල.

සූත්‍ර·පිටකය, n. the first of the ත්‍රිපිටක, containing addresses spoken by Buddha and intended for mankind in general; it consists of five සහි, collecions or books, called respectively දික්,මැහුම්,සංයුත්,අංගුත්තර and කුදුගොත්. See each one.
