අක්ෂය, n. a die used in gambling; wheel, චක්‍රය; organ of sense, ඉන්ද්‍රියය; seed or nut called මාෂ (see අක්ෂමාලාව); a weight of sixteen මාෂ seeds; law, නීතිය; law-suit, නඩුව.

අදේ, n. E. of ආ‍ර්‍ද්‍රා: the sixth lunar mansion.

අමුණ, n. grain measure of five or six bushels; a measure of land as much as an amuna of grain will sow, viz. from 2 to 2½ acres; pl. අමුණු.

අර්‍ථ විඥනය, n. knowledge or understanding of, meaning: one of the six sciences called වේදාංග.

අවලිය, n. two thirds of a pint, or the ninety sixth part of a bushel.

ඇක්ම, n. figure, number, ඉලක්කම; trampling on, පෑගීම; the sixth sign in astronomical reckoning.

ඊ, n. The sixth vowel of the alphabet. Its sound is the previous vowel lengthened, and is the same as ee in Peel or Feel. Its non-initial form is ී placed above the consonant it vocalizes, as කී, මී, kí, mí.

උත්තර භාද්‍රපදය, n. twenty-sixth lunar mansion, figured by a couch and containing two stars.

උතුරු පුටුපය, n. twenty-sixth lunar mansion.

ඍතු කාලය, ඍතුව, n. the season: the year being divided into six seasons, or in another way into three.

ඖ, n. The sixteenth letter of the alphabet. Its sound is that of ou in Thou or ow in Now. Its non-initial form is (‍‍‍‍‍ෙ‍—ෟ), as නෞ, now.

කල, n. time, period, ප්‍රස්තාව; digit or one sixteenth of the moons's diameter; a portion of time about eight seconds.
