මකර, n. myth. a sea monster with the head and fore legs of an antelope and body and tail of a fish,—it is the emblem of the god of love; as a figure in the zodiac it corresponds to Capricorn: see මකරය &c. above.

මඩනය, n. See මණ්ඩනය.

මාරයා, n. god of destruction, විනාශකදෙවියෝ; chief of the demons, the great opponent of Gautama; on the day when Gautama was about to attain Buddhaship Māra attacked him with a great host of demons in order to prevent the attainment, but Buddha vanquished them all.
