වි·දර්‍භ, n. (වි priv., දර්‍භ sacrificial grass), desert region, කාන්තාර පළාතක් a district and city to the south-west of Bengal, so called, it is said, because the sacred grass does not grow there, the district having been cursed by a saint whose son had died of a wound from a blade of that grass. The district is now called Berar.

විද්‍යා·ධරයා, n. (විද්‍යා magical knowledge, ධරයා holder), aerial demigod who has attained his state of power by magical rites and incantations; good or evil genius attending upon the gods; a kind of spirit or fairy.

වට·සක, n. lit round wheel or circle, viz. large earring, කුණ්ඩලය.

වර·තික්ත, n.aggregate or medical compound of three pungent substances, viz. black pepper, long pepper and dried ginger: ගම් මිරිස්, තිප්පිලි සහ ඉඟරු මිශ්‍රවූ බෙහෙත.

වි·නීතතාව, n. condition of being well-trained or disciplined, refinement, culture; gentleness &c, see adj. and සුවිනීතතාව.

වි·භජනය, n. (වි severally, භජ් to divide), dividing, separating, separation, වෙන්කිරීම; portioning බෙදීම, බෙදාදීම.

විදු·ලතාව, n. (E. of විද්‍යුල්ලතාව: විදු lightning, ලතාව creeper), lightning flash, විදුලිය.

වසඟවෙනවා, v. i. to submit, be in subjection to.

වි·ශේෂ·ලක්‍ෂණය, n. specific mark, special characteristic. E. S.
