ශාලි·වාහන, n. (ශාලි fr. ශාල sal tree or wood), ap. of a king of India, enemy of වික්‍රමාදිත්‍ය and founder of the Saka or ශක්‍ය era in A. D. 78. It is said the name refers to his being carried on a cross of sal wood; this, together with his history and character, is probably derived from some knowledge of Christ's life.

ශාක්‍ය·කුලය, n. (ශක් to be able), the Mighty or Sākya race, a people so called who took their rise by separating from the kingdom of lkshwāku or Okkāka, the first king of the Hindus. They followed the four sons of their king into banishment, and finding an unoccupied district built there as their capital the city Kapilavastu. From a prince of this race after many generations Gautama Buddha was descended.

ශක්ති·විනාශක, a. strength-destroying, enfeebling, enervating, ශක්තිය අඩුකරන or නැතිකරන.

ශුක්ල·පක්‍ෂය, n. the light half of the month from new to full moon, පූර්‍වපක්‍ෂය.

ශිථිල, a. loose, flabby, බුරුල්, feeble, දුර්‍වල; unaspirated, අල්පප්‍රාණ; fig. easy, familiar, colloquial, පහසු, ලිහිල් (බස් &c.).

ශික්‍ෂකයා, n. teacher, instructor, preceptor, උපදේශකයා, ගුරුවරයා.

ශික්‍ෂක, a. (ශික්‍ෂ් to learn; tame), didactic, dogmatic, instructive, උපදේශක. E. S.

ශුවිතතාව, n. purity &c., පවිත්‍රකම.

ශුභසිද්ධවෙනවා, v. i. properity, welfare &c. takes place or befalls any one.
