සරත්, a. autumnal, see ශරත්.

සිංහල, a. Sinhalese: (සිංහ lion, ල to take or bay). The word is said to be derived from සිංහබාහු whose father was a lion. සිංහබාහු bew the lion, and in consequence his descendants from his son විජය who conquered and colonized Ceylon received the name සිංහල.

සා·මුද්‍රික, a. pert. to spots on the body as indications of good or bad fortune.

සයනිය, n. glance, leer, අඩබැල්ම.

සවන්·මීණ, n. ear-ring, කුණ්ඩලාභරණය; pl. සවන්මිණි.

සුළු·පස්මුල්, n. pl. the five minor roots or plants, viz. එළබටු,කටුවැල්බටු, අස්වැන්න,පුස්වැන්න ගොකටු, see Bot. for each.

සුවන්·වන්, n. (වන් E. of වර්‍ණ), gold colour, bright yellow, කහපාට.

සාත්තුනායකයා, n. (සාත්තු company), leader or chief of a caravan or company of travelling merchants.
