සවත, n. (ස six, වත face), six-faced one: ap. of කාර්‍තතිකේය, see ෂඩාතනයා.

සීමන්තිතී, n. fem. of සීමන්ත: one whose hair is parted, viz. woman, ස්ත්‍රී.

සර්‍පාක්‍ෂ, n. (අක්‍ෂ eye), wild olive seed, වෙරළු.

සු·රක්‍ෂණය, n. thorough preservation, defence, security, safety, සම්පූර්‍ණආරක්‍ෂාව.

සායම, n. colouring matter, pigment, paint, dye.

සක්·වළ, n. (සක් region, වළ circumference), B., a whole round or complete set or system of worlds, including the earth, with මහමෙර in its centre, and around its circumference a wall of rock, the sun and moon and all worlds as far as the light of the sun extends, as well as a series of hells and heavens, the latter consisting of Deva lokas and Brahma lokas. Such Sakvalas are said to be innumerable.

සුර්‍ය්‍යදර්‍ශක කණ්ණාඩිය, n. helioscope, ඉරබලනකණ්ණාඩිය.

සිංහල, a. Sinhalese: (සිංහ lion, ල to take or bay). The word is said to be derived from සිංහබාහු whose father was a lion. සිංහබාහු bew the lion, and in consequence his descendants from his son විජය who conquered and colonized Ceylon received the name සිංහල.
