උ, n. The seventh vowel of the alphabet. Its sound is that of oo in Foot. Its non-initial forms /?/ and ු called පාපිල්ල—lower or foot piece—are placed below the consonant they vocalize, as කු, මු, koo, moo.

උත්කර්‍ෂ, a. excellent, eminent, උත්තම; exceeding, අධික.

උද්දානය, n. binding, බැඳීම; submarine fire, වඩබාගින්න.

ඌර්‍මමීමත්, a. wavy, undulating, undulated, රැළ සහිත, සැලෙන, රැළ or ගොඩැලි ආකාර

උකස් තබනවා, or තිබනවා or තියනවා, v. t. to pawn, deposit as a pledge, hypothecate, mortgage.

උපද්‍රව ඝණ්ටාරය, n. alarm-bell, tocsin.

උමං දාව. n. one of Buddha's lives; the narrative of that life, called also උම්මග්ගජාතකය.

උන්මාද මතික, a. having insane or wild ideas, fanatical.
