අ භාෂණය, n. speechlessness, silence, නිශ්ශබ්දවීම.

අට රස, n. pl. the eight parts of speech; the eight sentiments exhibited in dancing, viz. love, tenderness, mirth, heroism, wrath, disgust, wonder, terror.

අටඟ මග, n. (අට, අග portion, section), the eightfold way to Nirvāna, i. e. the way embracing eight sections, viz. — 1. සම්‍යක් දෘෂ්ටිය, right view, orthodoxy. 2. සම්‍යක් සංකල්පනාව, right volition or determination. 3. සම්‍යක් වචනය, right speech. 4. සම්‍යක් කර්‍මන්තය, right action. 5. සම්‍යක් ආජීවය, right living or livelihood. 6. සම්‍යක් ව්‍යායාමය, right effort. 7. සම්‍යක් සමෘතිය, right remembrance or contemplation of the past. 8. සම්‍යක් සමාධිය, right meditation.

අම යුරු වදන, n. honeyed speech, pleasing word, ඉතා මිහිරි බස.

අලංකාරය, n. beauty, loveliness, elegance; ornament (of speech); ලක්ෂණය, ශෝභණකම.

අලුපුව, n. word, speech, බස.

අවාක්, අ වාවී, a. (අ priv., වාක්,වාච් speech), speechless, dumb, ‍ගොළු.

ආ ක්‍රෝශ කථනය, ආ ක්‍රෝශ වාක්‍යය, n. abusive speech, invective, philippic, නිග්‍රහ බස.

ඇලුප, n. fr. ආලාප: speech, word, බය.

ඉක්මන, n. celerity, speed, rapidity, hurry.

ඉක්මනට, ඉක්මනින්, ad. quickly, soon, speedily.

ඉක්මන්කම, n. speed &c.; hastiness.

උක්තිය, n. the saying, utterance, speaking, speech, කියමන, කීබස.

ඌර්‍මමී වේගය, n. rate or speed of waves or undulations, රැළවල වේගය.
