අපුල්ලනවා, v. t. to full or wash clothes (generally by beating); pret. ඇපුල්ලුවා; v. n. ඇ පිල්ලීම.

ආකෝටනය, n. giving strokes or beating, chopping, කෙටීම; washing clothes, ඇපිල්ලීම.

ඇපිල්ලීම, v. n. of ඇපිල්ලෙනවා and අපුල්ල නවා: washing.

ඇපිල්ලෙනවා, v. i. become washed or come clean in the washing; pret. ඇපුල්ලුණ.

ඇළ පිල්ල, n. gram. side piece, viz. the vowel sign (ා) at the side a consonant, as කා, being the non-initial for ආ, ā.

ඉ, n. The fifth vowel of the alphabet; the third in Sanskrit, which has not the two preceding. Its sound is the fine sharp sound of i in pin; its non-initial form is (ි), called ඉස්පිල්ල head or top piece, placed above the consonant it vocalizes: as කි,මි පින්, ki, mi, pin.

ඉපිල්ල, n. float (for angling); out-rigger (of a canoe).

ඉපිල්ලා, n. a kind of fish.

ඉපිල්ලෙනවා, v. i. to bubble up; be elated or vain; pret. ඉපිල්ලුණා; v. n. ඉපිල්ලීම.

ඉස් පිල්ල, n. lit. head-piece: the vowel sign (ි) placed over a consonant, as කී, being the non-initial sign for ඉ.

උ, n. The seventh vowel of the alphabet. Its sound is that of oo in Foot. Its non-initial forms /?/ and ු called පාපිල්ල—lower or foot piece—are placed below the consonant they vocalize, as කු, මු, koo, moo.

උපුල්ලවනවා, උපුල්වනවා, v. t. to raise, lift up, ඔසවනවා; fig. foment, urge, stimulate, පොළ ඹනවා; pret. ඉපිල්ලෙවුවා, ඉපිල්ලුවා; v. n. ඉපිල්ලවීම, ඉපිල්ලීම.

කණ පිල්ල, n. peacock's feather, ඇස්පිල්ල.
