අට මහ නිරය, n. the eight great hells, viz. සංජී වය, කාලසූත්‍රය, සංඝාතය, රෞරවය, මහාරෞර වය, තාපය, ප්‍රතාපය, අවීචිය. See each in its place.

ආනන්තර්‍ය්‍ය කර්‍ම, n. pl. deeds or results without an interval, i. e. the five අකුසල් which are to be punished in the very next life, viz. matricide, patricide, the murder of a Rahat, shedding blood of a Buddha, schism (amongst the priesthood, සංඝභේදය), and the eight කුසල් or අෂ්ටසමාපති which are to be at once rewarded.

මහ·සංඝයා, මහසඟ, n. B, association of priests, governing body or assembly of priests.

සංඝ·ඝාතනය, සංඝ·ඝාතය, n. striking together, collision, see සංඝට්ටනය; smiting, killing, පහරදීම, මරාදැමීම; combination, සංයෝගය, assemblage, multitude, රැස, සමූහය.

සංඝටිත, a. (·ඝට් to happen, unite), met, encountered, සම්මුඛවූ: joined, සන්‍ධිවූ.

සංඝය, n. a number or multitude, assembly, ගණන, රැස, සමූහය.

සංඝයා, n. assembly or convention of B. P. of any number above three, B. priesthood, මහණසමූහය, සංඝසභාව.

සංඝාදිසේස, n. B., the remaining or second class of sins dealt with in the code pertaining to the priesthood, of which sins there are thirteen to which the priests are exposed, mentioned in the ප්‍රාතිමෝක්‍ෂය. When any one of these has been committed it must be confessed before the සංඝයා or assembly of priests, who then award the punishment due.

සංඝානුස්මෘතිය, n. (·අනු: remembrance, reflection), consideration or veneration for the B. priesthood.

සංඝාරාමය, n. B. P. grove or monastery, ආරාමය.

සගරුවන, n. E. for සංඝරත්නය.
