අ ශ්‍රමණ, a. non-ascetic, laic, ගිහි; unpriestly, unbecoming a monk, තාපසයාට නුසුදුසු.

අකුරකින් විදිනවා, v. to shoot with a small stone for augury. This is done by taking stones between the two fore-fingers and projecting them against the bark and leaves of trees and then predicting coming events according to the marks made by the stones.

අඩු ලුහුඬුකම, n. deficiency, defectiveness &c., shortcoming.

අර්‍ථාගම, n. (අර්‍ථ wealth, ආගම coming), incoming or receipt of wealth, income, ආදායම.

අෂ්ට ධර්‍මය, n. the law of eight, viz. the eight essentials for becoming a Buddha: 1 manhood, 2 the male sex, 3 merit, 4 to have seen a Buddha, 5 ascetic condition, monkhood, 6 virtuousness, 7 aspiration to Buddhahood, 8 a strenuous heart for it.

ඇඳිනගැනීම, ඇඳිනීම, v. n. becoming acquainted with, recognition.

ඈරීම, v. n. of ආරනවා: becoming fat, fattening.

ඊම, v. n. of එනවා: coming, arrival.

උදය වැය නැණ, n. E. of උදයව්‍යයඥනය: lit knowledge of rising and declining, viz. of becoming and ceasing to be, වීමද නැතිවීමද දන්නා ඥනය.

උදය, උදේ, n. morning, forenoon; rising, උසස් වීම; coming into existence, ඉපදීම.

උද්භවය, n. (උද් up භූto be), coming into existence, birth, production, ඉපදීම.

උප ශෝභිත, a. adorned, beautiful, very becoming, අලංකාරකරනලද, ශෝභන.
