අ ප්‍රත්‍යාඛ්‍යෙය, a. (අ priv., ප්‍රති against, ආ ඛ්‍යෙය affirmable), not to be denied or refuted, undeniable, irrefutable, නැතැයි කිය නොහැකිවූ (කාරණ).

අ ප්‍රති සන්ධික, a. (අ priv., ප්‍රති again, සන්ධික uniting), free from further transmigration, සසරින් මිදුණ.

අ යෝඬ්‍ය, a. (අ priv., යුධ් to fight), not to be warred against, impregnable. E. S.

අ ලබ්ධ, a. not gained or received, නොලැබූ.

අකුරකින් විදිනවා, v. to shoot with a small stone for augury. This is done by taking stones between the two fore-fingers and projecting them against the bark and leaves of trees and then predicting coming events according to the marks made by the stones.

අගස්ති, අගස්ත්‍ය, n. a rishi so named, who, according to mythology, was born in a water jar, once swallowed the ocean, but voided it again, and is the regent of the star Canopus.

අටඟ මිණ, n. (අට අඟ) octagonal gem: one was given by Sakra to king Kusa, which, applied to his face, removed its ugliness and made it beautiful. so that his wife received him again.

අත ගහනවා, v. to apply the hand, strike the hand upon, touch, handle, meddle, strike the hand to confirm a bargain, &c.

අනු ලාප, a. (අනු again, ලාප saying), tautological.

අනු ලෝම, අනු ලෝමික, a. lit. with the hair, viz. the way of–not against–the grain, in natural order, regular, අනුක්‍රමික. See ප්‍රති ලෝම.

අප චාරය, n. (අප off, against), hostile or bad conduct, නපුරු හැසිරීම.

අප වාදක a. (අප against, වාදක uttering), dispraising, censuring, වරද තබන; banderous, කේලම් සහිත.

අප හසය, අප හාසය, අප හාස්‍යය, n. (අප against හාස laughter), ridicule, scorn, reviling, insult, නින්දා‍කෙරීම, libel, කේලම.

අභි නිර්‍ය්‍යණය, n. (අභි against, නිර්‍ය්‍යාණය going out), marching against, invasion, විරුඬ යට යාම. E. S.
