අ ප්‍රපතන, a. not falling, bot. persistent (leaves &c.), නොවැටෙන.

අකුරකින් විදිනවා, v. to shoot with a small stone for augury. This is done by taking stones between the two fore-fingers and projecting them against the bark and leaves of trees and then predicting coming events according to the marks made by the stones.

අතර මං කරනවා, v t. lit. leave on the road or journey; fig. leave in the lurch, desert, abandon.

අත් අරිනවා, v. t. to abandon, forsake, leave, relinquish; leave out, omit.

අත් පොරව, n. hatchet, cleaver; pl. අත්පොරෝ.

අත්ඇරයනවා, v. t. to leave behind, quit, forsake.

අතු පතර, n. pl. branches and leaves.

අතු පාහිනවා, අතු බානවා, v. to lop or take off branches, leaving only the trunk.

අන්න ශේෂ, n. pl. leavings of food, orts, offal, ඉතුරැ කෑම.

අරිනවා, v. t. to send (to the third person); send away, dismiss; open, take or strip off, remove; let go one's hold, release; leave, abandon; pret. ඇරියා; p. pl. ඇර; v. n. ඇරීම.

අල්, a. consonantal, viz. having the vowel suppressed, leaving only the consonant.

අවසරගන්නවා, v. to obtain permisson; to take leave.

අවසරය, n. permission, leave, sanction authority.

අශ්ව·කර්‍ණ, lit. horse-ear: a large tree the leaves of which resemble the ears of a horse.

අෂ්ට පත්‍ර, a. eight-leaved or octopetalous,කොළ or පෙති අටක් ඇති (මල්).
