අ රුචි, අරුචිර, a. unpalatable, unsavoury, රස නැති, distasteful, අමිහිරි.

අ රුචිකම, අ රුචිතාව, n. insipidity, unpalatableness &c., රස නැතිකම &c.

උඩු තල්ල, n. roof the mouth, palate; pl. උඩුතලු.

ඓශ්චර්‍ය්‍යමත්, a. glorious, magnificent, superb, palatial.

ච, n. The sixth consonant of the alphabet, and the first of the palatal or second class of consonants. It has the sound of ch in Channel.

ඤ, n. The tenth consonant of the Sanskrit and Pali alphabets and nasal of the palatal or second class. It is often written by the shorter from [ං], as in ආරංචි, වංචා, by [`], චචා. In Sansorit and its derivatives it never stands as an initial or alone, but joined to the following consonant either in its full or shortened form, as වඤ්වා, වංචා, වචා.

තාලු, a. palatal.

තාලු·ජ, n. produced by the palate, palatal.

තාලු·ජාක්‍ෂරය, n. (·අක්‍ෂරය), palatal letter.

තාලුකාව, තාලුව, n. the palate, උඩුතල්ල.

බින්‍දුව, n. a drop; dot, spot, speck, point; the nasal (ං), used for ඞ before gutturals in words from Sans., and for the nasal ඤ් before palatals in Sinhalese words.

රාජ·මන්‍දිරාකාර, a. like a palace, palatial.

ශ, n. The first of the seventh or sibilant class of letters. It is a palatal sibilant and its true sound is probably a light Sh as heard in the word Cession; but in general usage it does not differ from the dental ස. Some words are written either with ශ or ස.
