අ ගාධ ජලය, n. deep water, lake, වැව.

අගස්ති, අගස්ත්‍ය, n. a rishi so named, who, according to mythology, was born in a water jar, once swallowed the ocean, but voided it again, and is the regent of the star Canopus.

අග්නි නාශය, n. fire-extinguisher, ගින්න නිවන දේ, water, වතුර.

අට තුනු, a. eight-bodied: ep. of Siva as seen in the sky, air, water, fire, sun, moon, earth, offering.

අට පිරිකර, n. pl. the eight accoutrements or articles required by a B. P., viz. bowl, under-garment, single robe, double robe, girdle, knife or razor, needle and water-strainer: පාත්‍රය, අඳනය, තනිපටසිවුර, දෙපටසිවුර, පටිය, පිහිය, ඉඳිකටුව, පෙරහන්කඩ.

අටල්ල, n. high stand, scaffold, as an observatory for the field watchman, &c; pl. අටලු.

අඩු කළය, n. half a pot of anything, partly filled water-pot.

අත පැන් වත්කරනවා, or වක්කරනවා, v. to pour water into the hand: B. often done to confirm a vow or ratify the marriage ceremony.

අතලේ, n. (for අතලය), hand water-pot, mug.

අන්‍යෝදක, a. (අන්‍ය උදක), of other water; quotidian. daily (fever), දවස්පතා (උණ).
