අෂ්ට පෂීත්, n. pl. the eight retinues who attended Buddha: see අට පිරිස.

අකුරකින් විදිනවා, v. to shoot with a small stone for augury. This is done by taking stones between the two fore-fingers and projecting them against the bark and leaves of trees and then predicting coming events according to the marks made by the stones.

අත්‍යානන්ද, a. (අති ආනන්ද), very delightful, enrapturing, entrancing, ඉතා ප්‍රීතිමත්කරන; rapturous, ඉතා ප්‍රීතිමත්.

අ රිෂ්ටය, n. bad symptom, unfavourable omen, නරක ලකුණ, අශුභ නිමිත්ත.

අට පට්ටම්කරනවා, v. t. to make eight-sided, or octagonal.

අග්නි භාණ්ඩ ශිල්පය, n. art of pyrotechny, pyrotechnics, ගිනිකෙළි ශිල්පය or සෑදීම.

අව ලාද, a. reproachful, fault-finding, complaining, grumbling.

අත් පොළසන් දෙනවා, v. to clap the hands, applaud.

අපතේ අරිනවා, v. t. to let go to waste, throw away, be prodigal of, squander.
