වෘහති·පති, n. master of speech, viz. Vrihaspati, preceptor of the gods.

විෂ·වැද්දවීම, v. n. of විෂවද්දවනවා: causing venom or poison to penetrate, poisoning, infecting.

විදීම, v. of විදිනවා.

වර·කල්පය, n. excellent kalpa viz. the third kalpa or period of the world, in which three Buddha appeared, see මණ්ඩකල්පය.

වි·මානිත, a. dishonoured, disparaged, අවනම්බු (or සුළු) කරනලද.

ව්‍යති·ක්‍රමණයකරනවා, v. t. to reverse, recant, retract, revoke, E. S.; go beyond, transgress, පසුකරනවා, ඉක්මවනවා.

වැඩි·විය, n. (වැඩි grown up, විය age), maturity, puberty.

වි·තුෂ්ටකරනවා, v. t. to displease, අප්‍රසන්නකරනවා.

වස්වසනවා, v. i. (වස් the rains, වසනවා dwell), to sojourn during the rainy season. According to B. the monk has no settle home, but during the rains may remain with a householder. Whilst there it is usual for him to give religious instruction to the inmates and others who attend.
